Increase Your Event Attendance 500% and Drive Millions in Incremental Revenue with Post-Event Content and Interactive Communities

According to the Annual EventView Report Series by the Event Marketing Institute, Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and George P. Johnson, the best ROI in marketing often comes from event marketing – including trade shows, conferences and seminars, internal education/training events and sales/marketing meetings.

The survey results also show that "Senior marketing professionals are looking beyond traditional event marketing tactics for an integrated campaign that offers the opportunity for an audience to interact with a company's product/service and its brand before, during and after an event. Called experience marketing, this entails creating live, interactive, immersive interactions in which the participant experiences a heightened sense of the brand's attributes in ways that are deeply meaningful and richly rewarding."

Interact: "Before, during and after an event"

Event marketers stake their reputations on producing excellent results before and during an event, but some overlook and under-fund post-event ROI and incremental revenue opportunities that could easily have been harvested using the latest post-event content management and social networking technology.

One such technology is the Altus Event Xcellerator™, an event management video portal that enables meeting professionals to use event content to drive audience participation, increase brand engagement and extend the live experience by capturing and delivering event-related content over the Web to anyone.

TiVo, Google, and YouTube Rolled into One

Altus enables companies to capture critical event and conference knowledge like TiVo, make it searchable like Google, and deliver it like YouTube. It digitally captures people sharing knowledge and meeting content – transcribes that content verbatim, synchronizes it with slides and makes everything accessible and searchable down to the spoken word. Conference attendees and others who could not be present are then able to review and re-experience the entire event months or years later.

"There was no better way to show off the promise and benefits of Enterprise 2.0 technology than to put it in the hands of show attendees and have them use it," said Steve Wylie, general manager of CMP Technology's Enterprise 2.0 Conference. "Therefore, we used the Altus platform to capture and archive key presentations so that attendees could revisit, review and collaborate on the conference content for many months after the event ended."

At a three-day sales conference in June, 2007, roughly 1,000 attendees were present at the live event. Using an Altus portal during the seven months following the conference, the organizers were able to reach thousands of additional visitors who experienced the conference online and acted on the information that they received. The following chart illustrates actual post-conference portal visits. Note that four months after the event (Oct 2007), there were 1,075 user visits to the Altus portal, highlighting the long tail of the event driven by post-event online content.

User Visits per Month chartOver 500% More People Exposed to Your Message

Actual event records show that with the right technology, as many as five to ten times more people may attend your conference "virtually" over the Web after the event has ended than attended the live event in person. What's more, information comprehension and retention of the online post-conference videos, transcripts and archived presentation materials are likely to be far better than the attendees' memories of the actual live content presented at the event.

According to scientist Rebecca Rupp, author of "Committed to Memory: How We Remember and Why We Forget," within 24 hours, two-thirds of most learned material is forgotten.

That means that 66 percent of your event marketing message is wasted, unless you have an effective strategy of capturing that information and giving your target audience an effective way to save it, access it and apply it.

Drive Millions in Incremental Revenue

A typical $3 billion company that hosts a 15,000-person annual users' conference over four days with 96 hours of presentations across four tracks can generate an additional 1% in products and services revenue ($30 million) by leveraging post-event content and community building.

How to Make Event-Critical Knowledge Instantly Accessible With Altus Event Xcellerator™

Altus Event XcelleratorAltus has introduced Altus Event Xcellerator™, a unique event management video portal that enables meeting professionals to use event-oriented content to drive audience participation, increase brand engagement and extend the live experience, by capturing and delivering event-related content over the Web.

The major difference between the Altus solution and others is Altus captures every spoken word at your event, synchronizes the video, audio, PowerPoint slides, and scrolling transcripts in a portal that makes that video searchable down to the spoken word.

New Web 2.0 social networking features such as searchable video, podcasts, vodcasts, blogs, communities and RSS extend attendees' capabilities to freely share event-critical information with colleagues around the world. They can rate colleagues' presentations, share ideas via blogs, customize their own personal home page in the knowledge portal and mash up slides from other presentations to rapidly create personalized content.

Offered as a Software as a Service (SaaS) application tailored for events and conferences, Altus Event Xcellerator™ makes your event-critical knowledge instantly accessible at the point of interest, anytime and anywhere.
